Registration Policy

The following is the registration policy for Tip of the Spear Ventures and The Javelin Leadership Development Institute programs.  Tip of the Spear and The Javelin Leadership Development Institute’s programs are noncredit. Register early to reserve a spot, as space is limited.

To register, choose a program and visit the specific program’s webpage.

Early Bird Tuition

Register for a course 30-days in advance and receive a 20% discount on the investment for the session.  Please contact us if you’re interested in Enterprise Tuition rates.

Regular Tuition

Register for a course within the 30-day time period of the start date and pay the non-discounted investment for the session.  Please contact us if you’re interested in Enterprise Tuition rates.

Payment

Full payment is due when you register. Discover, Visa, MasterCard, and American Express are accepted.

Tuition covers:

  • Instruction
  • Program materials
  • Continental breakfast
  • Coffee breaks

Prerequisites

Proficiency in written and spoken English is required for participation in all Javelin Leadership Development Institute programs. Participants are expected to have a bachelor’s degree or the equivalent work experience. See individual program pages for specific prerequisites as applicable.

Certification

You receive one certificate of participation upon completion. Grades are not assigned, and the programs do not count toward a degree. The Javelin Leadership Development Institute’s programs do not appear on official Division of Continuing Education transcripts.

International Participants

According to US State Department guidelines, visitors may use the B-1 visa for brief stays, usually less than six months, to participate in scientific, educational, professional, or business conventions, conferences, or seminars or to undertake independent research.

Consult the US embassy or consulate in your country to determine the appropriate visa category and necessary documentation. We recommend that you list “professional development” rather than “school” or “study” as your reason for coming to the United States.

Disabilities

If you have questions about accommodations for disabilities, please contact the disabilities services coordinator using our Contact Us form.

Health Insurance

You must be covered individually with comprehensive health insurance for major medical emergencies and hospitalization. Check with your organization’s health insurance carrier before your arrival to ensure that you have adequate coverage. Tip of the Spear Ventures / The Javelin Leadership Development Institute is not responsible for medical fees incurred during your stay.

Tuition Assistance

The Javelin Leadership Development Institute programs are not covered by a Tuition Assistance Plan.

Registration Cancellations

To cancel your registration, write to info@tipofthespearventures.com.

You are assessed $300 a program if you cancel.

You are assessed $300 a program within 30-days prior to the start of the program.

Participants who cancel less than 7-days prior to the start of the program forfeit the entire tuition. If you do not cancel and do not attend the program, you forfeit the entire tuition.

Program Cancellations

Programs may be added or canceled at the sole discretion of Tip of the Spear Ventures and/or The Javelin Leadership Development Institute. If a program is canceled, the Javelin Institute will refund the program tuition in full but is not responsible for travel, accommodations, or other expenses incurred by the participant.

Refusal of Registration

Tip of the Spear Ventures and/or The Javelin Leadership Development Institute may refuse registration to anyone who has been required to withdraw from another program.

Tip of the Spear Ventures and/or The Javelin Leadership Development Institute deals directly with individual participants. We do not work with agents, book groups of participants, or offer any commission or discount for doing so.

Any agency offering services to clients vis-a-vis Tip of the Spear Ventures and/or The Javelin Leadership Development Institute may only serve to assist applicants in the process of completing registration forms, and may not in any way represent itself as an agency of the entities. All registrations and payments must come from the individual participants. Tip of the Spear Ventures and/or The Javelin Leadership Development Institute may refuse to accept any participants who are registered by an agency.

Nondiscrimination

Tip of the Spear Ventures and/or The Javelin Leadership Development Institute does not discriminate against any person on the basis of race, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, age, national or ethnic origin, political beliefs, veteran status, or disability unrelated to job or course of study requirements in admission to, access to, treatment in, or employment in its programs and activities.

Program Information and Changes

Tip of the Spear Ventures and/or The Javelin Leadership Development Institute reserves the right to make changes to the information printed in materials or on this website. Note that faculty biographies have been submitted by faculty.

Inclement Weather Cancellations

The Javelin Leadership Development Institute programs are rarely canceled because of inclement weather. If they are canceled, a notice is posted on the homepage the day of cancellations. Participants are notified by e-mail.
